Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 20, 2026
Welcome to Composio — a smart ingredient scanner that helps you understand what's really inside the products you buy. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.
1. Information We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to provide and improve the app experience:
- Camera input: Composio uses the iPhone camera to capture product labels. Captured frames are processed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. We do not upload, store on our servers, or share these images with anyone.
- Usage analytics: We use Mixpanel to collect anonymized, non-personally identifiable data about how you interact with the app — such as which features you use and how often. This helps us understand what works best and improve future updates. No personally identifiable information is sent to Mixpanel.
- Subscription data: If you subscribe to Composio Premium, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple via the App Store and StoreKit. We do not collect, store, or process your payment or billing information directly.
- Notification permissions: Composio may request permission to send local push notifications (e.g., reminders to review weekly stats). These notifications are generated entirely on-device and are never sent through our servers.
- Support communications: If you contact us via the in-app support form or by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not share this data with any third parties.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide core app functionality including label scanning, ingredient analysis, color-coded ratings, personal library and statistics.
- To process and validate your subscription status via Apple's StoreKit framework.
- To analyze anonymized usage patterns using Mixpanel and improve our features and user experience.
- To deliver local push notifications you have enabled.
- To display contextual paywall screens using the Superwall SDK.
- To respond to support requests submitted through the app or by email.
3. Data Storage
All your personal data — scanned product photos, recognized ingredient lists, library entries, statistics and app preferences — is stored exclusively on your device using iOS standard local storage (CoreData and UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device and is not uploaded to any server.
If you have iCloud backup enabled on your iPhone, iOS may back up this local data to iCloud as part of the standard system backup. This is governed entirely by Apple's Privacy Policy and is outside our control.
4. Third-Party Services
Composio integrates the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:
- Mixpanel — anonymized usage analytics. Mixpanel Privacy Policy
- Superwall — in-app paywall and subscription screen management. Superwall Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — in-app purchases and subscription management. Apple Privacy Policy
5. Permissions We Request
- Camera: Required to scan product labels. Captured frames are processed on-device only and are never sent to our servers.
- Photo Library (optional): Used only if you choose to import an existing photo of a label instead of capturing a new one. Composio reads only the image you select.
- Notifications (optional): Used to deliver local reminders and weekly summaries you have enabled. You can manage or disable these at any time from iPhone Settings → Composio → Notifications.
We do not request access to your microphone, contacts, location, health data, or any other sensitive system resource.
You may revoke any granted permissions at any time from iPhone Settings → Composio.
6. Children's Privacy
Composio is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
Since all personal content (scanned products, photos, history, preferences) is stored locally on your device, you retain full control over it at all times. You may delete any or all data directly within the app or by uninstalling Composio from your device.
Depending on your location, you may also have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any information we hold (such as analytics data or support emails). To exercise these rights, please contact us at luminityapple@gmail.com.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we handle. All analytics data sent to Mixpanel is anonymized and transmitted over encrypted connections. We do not store any sensitive personal data on our own servers.
9. Important Notice About Health
Composio is an informational tool, not medical advice. The ratings and descriptions provided in the app are based on publicly available scientific sources and food safety guidelines, but they are not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any health condition. If you have specific dietary needs, allergies, or medical concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or applicable law. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Composio after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
